beyonce and dereon girls collection add |
||
|
Beyonce is the latest celebrity to launch a children’s clothing line. Her label, House of Dereon, has recently revealed a disturbing add campaign. The add features little girls wearing high heels, neon pink boa, leopard-skin fedora, and heavily made-up faces; and has properly received biting critiques. The style and the concept belong to three generations of women in Knowles family. The business started in 2004 and the brand was extended launching a junior line, Dereon Baby. The tag line for Dereon is “where sidewalk and catwalk meet”. Still, there is nothing pleasant in seeing children dressed like adults. Childhood is very important, especially when we are living in the high speed century. It is well known that celebrities, especially the top ones like Beyonce, have a big influence on the people that are watching them. But in this case it is not about adults, but children, little 7-year-old girls. We all know that at this age what they see is what they imitate. Let’s hope this is just a dress up play and not a real “style” of dressing children. Or it may be just a marketing technique. Bad publicity is still publicity. |
